SPA in Nepal

In recent times, Spa has become increasingly popular among all genders in major cities of Nepal. Some of the most popular services offered are skin and hair treatments, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam and different forms of body massages and relaxation therapies. It is believed to help people not only experiencing pain/ injury but also as a recreation to boost their physical and mental energy..

In the past, There were only a handful of SPAs in locations like Thamel in kathmandu, Lakeside in Pokhara and few 5 star hotels. Those places were offering services mainly for tourists from various other countries. Back then, massage therapies were perceived to be an attraction for sexual services mainly due to some dodgy people conducting those services Illegally and not trained in providing therapeutic  benefits of massage therapies. However, more recently, a complete SPA  facility with peaceful ambience and well trained therapists are being operated all around Nepal. Some of the SPAs in Nepal are also categorized as world class facilities offering hydro treatment, steam, sauna, massage and other beauty therapies.

Historically, some of the SPAs pre-existed in forms of oil massages for newborns, bathing in natural hot spring waters, laying down on hot rocks, sun bathing etc. These were believed to help in healing as well as boosting physical and mental health. The core value of these activities have now grown as SPA all around the word. Additionally, Spa along with wellness services  such as gym, jacuzzi, swimming, steam therapy, yoga and zumba  are being offered in Nepal. Due to this, SPA facilities have become a part of almost all 3 to 5 star hotels in the country. Not only that, some SPAs are offering individualized yoga, fitness and massage therapies.

At last, SPA has emerged to be one of the attractions for foreigners as well as local people who understand the health benefits of SPA. Unfortunately, little is known about SPA among local people which is comparatively changing in terms of Nepal.
